General Construction Specifications
PART 1 - GENERAL
01 SECTION INCLUDES
A. General Requirements specifically applicable to Division 16, in addition to Division 1 provisions.
02 COORDINATION
A. Coordinate the Work specified in this Division under provisions of applicable Sections of Division 1.
B. Prepare drawings showing proposed rearrangement of Work to meet job conditions, including changes to Work specified under other Sections. Obtain written permission from the Architect before proceeding.
C. Electrical drawings are diagrammatic and shall not be scaled for exact locations. If requested, any outlet or device shall be relocated up to six feet in any direction prior to rough-in with no change in price.
D. The Contractor is responsible for coordinating the installation of electrical items including, but not limited to, conduits, outlet boxes, and fixture mounting studs in precast concrete structural elements. All such electrical items shall be installed in precast forms before concrete is poured. Surface mounting of such electrical items shall not be permitted unless specifically noted on the Drawings.
E. The Contractor shall include all utility company fees and charges associated with providing both temporary and permanent electrical service.

1.02 REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS
A. Conform to ANSI/NFPA 70.
B. Conform to all applicable Building Codes.
C. Obtain electrical permits and inspections from authority having jurisdiction. Pay all associated fees.
D. Completed electrical work shall meet requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, its subsequent amendments, and interpretations of the Act promulgated by Occupational Safety and Health Administration of the Department of Labor.
1.03 GENERAL SCOPE OF ELECTRICAL WORK
A. The scope of electrical work is defined by these Specifications and Drawings. If the Specifications and Drawings are in conflict, the Contractor shall notify the Architect, before proceeding with that portion of the work, for an interpretation of which takes precedence.
B. Provide all electrical systems in complete working order.
C. Provide all power and control wiring, for mechanical, air conditioning and plumbing and all power and/or control wiring for any other provided by others requiring same, unless specifically specified to be provided by others under other specifications. The Electrical Contractor is cautioned to examine all other sections of all specifications and Contract Documents to ascertain the full extent of his work required. It shall be the Electrical Contractor's responsibility to verify with the Mechanical Contractor the voltage of all control wiring prior to bidding.
D. Provide concrete foundations, curbs, housekeeping pads, lighting pole bases, duct banks, etc., required for the installation of electrical as specified under other Sections.
E. Provide cutting and patching required for electrical installation as specified under other Sections.
F. The Contractor shall arrange for temporary electrical service required for entire project during construction. Provide a minimum of one 100 watt lamp and one duplex receptacle in each 500 square feet of floor area, and as many 208 volt outlets as required. The Contractor shall arrange for orderly transfer between existing electrical services and new electrical services. All temporary wiring shall be installed in a neat and workmanlike manner.
G. All shall be installed in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations. Where conflicts occur between Contract Documents and these recommendations, a ruling shall be requested of the Architect.
H. Protect work and materials from damage by weather, entrance of water and dirt. Cap conduit during installation. Avoid damage to materials and in place. Satisfactorily repair or remove and replace damaged work with new materials. Deliver and materials to job site in original, unopened, labeled containers. Store ferrous materials to prevent rusting. Store materials and to prevent staining and discoloring.
I. Provide and/or wiring normally furnished or required for complete electrical systems but not specifically specified on the drawings or in specifications, as though specified by both.
J. Execution of contract is evidence that Contractor has examined all drawings and specifications related to work, is informed to extent and character of work.
1.04 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. The Electrical Contractor shall have at least 5 years of successful experience on projects with electrical installation work similar to that required for this project.
B. The Contractor shall provide and/or be an active party to a meaningful Quality Assurance program. To assist the Contractor in this program, the specifications contained herein are set forth as the minimum acceptable Quality Assurance requirements.
This does not relieve the Contractor from executing other Quality Assurance measures to obtain a complete operating facility within the scope of this project.
C. The Contractor shall insure that all workmanship, all materials employed, all required and the manner and method of installation conform to accepted construction and engineering practices, and that each piece of is in satisfactory working condition to satisfactorily perform its functional operation.
D. In event that project is occupied or systems placed in operation in several phases at Owner's request, guarantee will begin on date each system or item of is accepted by Owner.
1.05 WARRANTY
A. The entire electrical system, including all material, components and furnished under this Division, and all installation furnished under this Division shall be fully warranted for one year under applicable provisions of Division 1, unless a longer warranty period is specified elsewhere.
1.06 SUBMITTALS
A. Submit inspection and permit certificates under provisions of applicable Sections of Division 1.
B. Include certificate of final inspection and acceptance from all authorities having jurisdiction.
C. Submit scaled and dimensioned drawings, at 1/4" = 1"-0", of every electrical room and those portions of mechanical rooms and other rooms where electrical panelboards are installed, with the submittal of to be installed in these rooms, showing that the can be installed in the room in compliance with the working clearance and other requirements of Article 110 and all other applicable articles of the National Electrical Code.
PART 2 PRODUCTS
04 MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT
A. Materials and Equipment: Acceptable to the authorities having jurisdiction as suitable for the use intended.
B. All material shall be UL listed where such labels are available.
C. All material shall be new.
PART 3 EXECUTION
05 WORKMANSHIP
A. Install Work using procedures defined in NECA Standard of Installation.
B. Provide flashing and/or pitch pockets at all conduit penetrations of the roof.
C. If the Mechanical Contractor submits a motor which is larger than the design the Electrical Contractor shall revise the circuitry to the motor at no additional cost to the Owner.
