    SECTION 15940

    AIR OUTLETS AND INLETS

   PART 1 - GENERAL

   1.01 SECTION INCLUDES

    A. Roof hoods.

   1.02 RELATED SECTIONS

    A. Section 09900 - Painting: Painting of ductwork visible behind outlets and inlets.

    B. Section 04300 - Unit Masonry System

   1.03 REFERENCES

    A. SMACNA - Low Pressure Duct Construction Standard.

    B. ANSI/NFPA 90A - Installation of Air Conditioning and Ventilating Systems.

   1.04 SUBMITTALS

    A. Submit under provisions of Section 01300.

    B. Product Data: Provide data for required for this Project.

    C. Submit manufacturer's installation instructions under provisions of Section 01300.

   1.05 PROJECT RECORD DOCUMENTS

    A. Submit under provisions of Section 01720.

   1.06 QUALITY ASSURANCE

    A. Test and rate performance of air outlets and inlets in accordance with ADC Equipment Test Code 1062 and ASHRAE 70.

    B. Test and rate performance of louvers in accordance with AMCA 500.

   1.07 QUALIFICATIONS

    A. Manufacturer: Company specializing in manufacturing the products specified in this Section with minimum three years experience.

   PART 2 - PRODUCTS

   2.01 ROOF HOODS

    A. Fabricate air inlet or exhaust hoods in accordance with SMACNA Low Pressure Duct Construction Standards - Metal and Flexible.

    B. Fabricate aluminum base, minimum 16 gage (1.50 mm) and minimum 18 gage (1.20 mm) hood, suitably reinforced; with hinged or removable hood; birdscreen with 1/2 inch (13 mm) square mesh for exhaust and 3/4 inch (19 mm) for intake, 0.105 wire gage galvanized steel and mounting frame of the same material as the hood; and factory Kynar 500 fluoropolymer enamel finish. Color to be "Deep Bermuda Blue" to match preglazed concrete masonry units.

    C. Mount unit on minimum 10 inch (254 mm) high prefabricated curb base with insulation between duct and curb.

    D. Make hood outlet area minimum of 1.7 times throat area.

   PART 3 - EXECUTION

   3.01 INSTALLATION

    A. Install items in accordance with manufacturers' instructions.

    B. Check location of outlets and inlets and make necessary adjustments in position to conform with architectural features, symmetry and arrangement. Refer to Section 09900.

   3.02 AIR OUTLET AND INLET: Refer to drawings.
