   1.04 SUBMITTALS

    A. Submit under provisions of Section 01300.

    B. Shop Drawings: Indicate assembly of axial fans and accessories including fan curves with specified operating point clearly plotted, sound power levels for both fan inlet and outlet at rated capacity, and electrical characteristics and connection requirements.

    C. Manufacturer's Installation Instructions.

   1.05 OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE DATA

    A. Submit under provisions of Section 01730.

    B. Maintenance Data: Include instructions for lubrication, motor and drive replacement, spare parts list, and wiring diagrams.

   1.06 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

    A. Deliver, store, protect and handle products to site under provisions of Section 01600.

    B. Protect motors, shafts, and bearings from weather and construction dust.

   1.07 EXTRA MATERIALS

    A. Furnish under provisions of Section 01700.

    B. Provide two sets of belts for each fan.

   PART 2 - PRODUCTS

   2.01 AXIAL FANS

    A. Manufacturers:

    1. Hartzell Fan, Inc.

    2. Other acceptable manufacturers offering equivalent products.

    a. Aerovent

    b. Buffalo Forge

    B. Substitutions: Under provisions of Section 01600.

    C. Product Requirements:

    1. Performance Ratings: Conform to AMCA 210.

    2. Sound Ratings: AMCA 301, tested to AMCA 300.

    3. Fabrication: Conform to AMCA 99.

    4. Performance Base: Sea level conditions.

    5. Temperature Limit: Maximum 300 degrees F (150 degrees C).

    D. Performance as shown on Drawings:

    E. Casing:

    1. Fabricate casing of fiberglass reinforced plastic, with static grounding.

    2. Finish with one coat gel coat applied to interior and exterior with electrical grounding.

    F. Bearings and Drives:

    1. Bearings: AFBMA 9, L-10 life at 50,000 hours heavy duty pillow block type, self-aligning, grease-lubricated ball bearings.

    2. Shafts: Stainless steel, ground and polished, with key-way.

    3. V-Belt Drive: Cast iron or steel sheaves, dynamically balanced, keyed. Variable and adjustable pitch sheaves for motors 15 hp (11.2 kW) and under selected so required rpm is obtained with sheaves set at mid-position.

    4. Belt Guard: Fabricate to SMACNA Standards; of 12 gage (2.8 mm), 3/4 inch (19 mm) steel, epoxy coated. Secure to fan or fan supports without short circuiting vibration isolation, with provision for adjustment of belt tension, lubrication, and use of tachometer with guard in place.

    5. Lubrication: Extend lubrication fittings to outside of casing.

    G. Electrical Characteristics and Components:

    1. Electrical Characteristics as shown on Drawings.

    a. Motor: Refer to Section 15170.

    b. Wiring Terminations: Provide terminal lugs to match branch circuit conductor quantities, sizes, and materials indicated. Enclose terminal lugs in terminal box sized to NFPA 70.

    H. Accessories:

    1. Inlet Bell: Bell mouth inlet fabricated of fiberglass reinformed plastic with flange.

    2. Outlet Cones: Fabricated of steel with flanges, outlet area/inlet area ratio of 1.5/1.0, with center pod as recommended by manufacturer.

    3. Inlet/Outlet Screens as Indicated: Epoxy coated screen to fit fan.

    4. Fiberglass motor cover.

    5. Non-Sparking Fan Wheel.

    6. Companion flanges drilled to fit 125 psi D.I. pipe flanges and fiberglass flanges.

   2.02 IN-LINE FANS - CENTRIFICAL

    A. Manufacturers:

    1. Jenn Fan.

    2. Other acceptable manufacturers offering equivalent products.

    a. Buffalo Forge Co.

    b. Loren Cook

    B. Impeller: Shaped stainless steel or steel reinforced aluminum blade or fiber reinforced plastic with heavy hubs, statically and dynamically balanced as a unit, locked to shaft, directly connected to motor or provided with V-belt drive. Provide steel blades, supports, and reinforcements with phosphatizing and baked enamel finish.

    C. Electrical Characteristics and Components:

    1. Electrical Characteristics as shown on Drawings.

    2. Motor: Refer to Section 15170. Self-aligning pre-lubricated ball or sleeve bearings affixed to mounting plate neoprene vibration isolation between fan assembly and mounting plate, motor Type S-1.

    3. Wiring Terminations: Provide terminal lugs to match branch circuit conductor quantities, sizes, and materials indicated. Enclose terminal lugs in terminal box sized to NFPA 70.

    D. Backdraft Damper: Reinforced aluminum consisting of two semi-circular vanes pivoted on self-lubricating lexan, nylon or stainless steel pivot bearings, lap seal vinyl gaskets on blade edges, counter balanced.

    E. Safety Screens: One inch (25 mm) stainless steel or acid resistant coated wire over inlet, motor, and drive and backdraft damper for separate mounting on outlet.

    F. Fan Speed: Maximum 1,800 RPM with variable speed control device (SCR).

    G. AMCA Labeled.

    H. Fan Housing and Impeller to be coated with baked epoxy paint suitable for exposure to hydrogen sulphide fumes.

   PART 3 - EXECUTION

   3.01 INSTALLATION

    A. Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

    B. Install fans as specified. Install with resilient mountings.

    C. Install flexible connections specified in Section 15910 between fan inlet and discharge ductwork. Ensure metal bands of connectors are parallel with minimum one inch (25 mm) flex between ductwork and fan while running.

    D. Provide safety screen where inlet or outlet is exposed.

    E. Provide backdraft dampers on discharge of exhaust fans and as indicated.

    F. Do not operate fans for any purpose until ductwork is clean, filters in place, bearings lubricated, and fan has been test run under observation.

   3.02 FANS

    Refer to Drawings.
