General Construction Specifications

   PART 1 - GENERAL

    01 WORK INCLUDED

    A. Contractor shall provide and install coils listed below, in types, capacities, and locations as required by the plans.

    1. Hot water coils

    02 QUALITY ASSURANCE

    A. Certify coil capacities, pressure drops and selection procedures in accordance with ARI Standard 410.

    03 SUBMITTALS

    A. Submit manufacturer's product data to Architect for approval as required by Section 15010.

    B. Submittal to include performance ratings for each coil, including computer.

   PART 2 - PRODUCTS

    04 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURER'S

    A. Provide coils as manufactured by Carrier, Trane, McQuay or York.

    05 CONSTRUCTION

    A. Tubes: Copper, with minimum tube wall thickness of 0.020 inches.

    B. Fins: Aluminum or copper, mechanically bonded to tubes by expansion of tube without soldering or tinning. Minimum fin thickness shall be 0.008 inches.

    C. Headers: Heavy gauge cast iron or steel.

    D. Casing: Minimum 16-gauge galvanized steel.

    E. Testing: Proof test and leak test each coil at minimum 300 psig and 200 psig air pressure respectively with coil submerged in water.

    06 HOT WATER COILS

    A. Design for minimum 200 psig at 220 degrees F.

   PART 3 - EXECUTION

    07 INSTALLATION

    A. Mount coil in accordance with SMACNA Standards including a maximum transition angle of 30 degrees on the entering air side of coil and 45 degrees on leaving air side. Transitions on both entering and leaving side to be 7:1 if space permits. Provide air tight seal between coil and duct or unit casing.

    B. Provide access doors on entering side of coil for cleaning and inspection purposes.

    C. See drawings for required piping connections to hot water coils.

    D. See drawings for required piping connections to steam coils.

    E. Externally insulate coil casing including return bends with 1" thick, blanket type fiberglass insulation to prevent condensation.

    F. Hot water reheat coils required for constant or variable volume boxes or fan powered induction boxes to be furnished factory mounted to boxes by terminal box manufacturer.

    G. Pitch coils per manufacturers recommendations for proper drainage.

    H. Provide water coils with manual air vent and drain plug.

    I. Support coil from structure where coil is mounted in ductwork.

    08 SCHEDULE

    A. See drawings for size, location, service, capacity and performance requirements for each coil.
