General Construction Specifications
PART 1 - GENERAL
01 WORK INCLUDED
A. Furnish and install as required by this specification and the drawings.
02 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Conform to requirements of UL and applicable codes.
B. Test and rate cooling system to ARI Standard 210.
03 SUBMITTALS
A. Submit product data to Architect for approval in accordance with Section 15010.
B. Submit with shop drawings, schematic layouts showing condensing units, cooling coils, refrigerant piping, and accessories required for complete system.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
04 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS
A. Provide products as manufactured by Carrier, McQuay, Trane or York.
05 CONDENSING UNITS
A. Provide self-contained, packaged, factory assembled and prewired units suitable for outdoor use consisting of cabinet, compressors, condensing coil and fans, integral sub-cooling coil, controls, liquid receiver, and screens.
06 MATERIALS
A. Use corrosion resistant materials for parts in contact with refrigerant.
B. Provide timer circuits to prevent rapid loading and unloading of compressor.
07 CABINET
A. Galvanized steel with air dried phenolic finish (Heresite) and removable access doors or panels with quick fasteners.
08 COMPRESSOR
A. Provide hermetically sealed, 1750 rpm, resiliently mounted compressor with positive lubrication, crankcase heater, cylinder unloaders for capacity modulation, motor overload protection, service valves, and filter drier.
09 CONDENSER
A. Coil: Seamless copper tubing with aluminum fins.
B. Fans: Vertical discharge, direct drive axial fans, resiliently mounted with guard and motor.
C. Motors: Permanently lubricated ball bearing motors with built-in current and overload protection.
010 CONTROLS
A. Provide high and low pressure cutouts for compressor, oil pressure control, non-recycling pump-down, and reset relay.
B. Provide controls to permit operation down to degrees F ambient temperature at minimum compressor load.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
011 INSTALLATION
A. Complete structural, mechanical, and electrical connections in accordance with manufacturer's installation instructions.
B. Furnish charge of refrigerant and oil.
012 ADJUSTING
A. Supply initial charge of refrigerant and oil for each refrigeration system. Replace losses of oil or refrigerant prior to end of correction period. Supply to Owner, one complete charge of lubricating oil in addition to that placed in the system.
B. Charge system with refrigerant and test entire system for leaks after completion of installation. Repair leaks, put system into operation, and test performance.
C. Shut-down system if initial start-up and testing takes place in winter and machines are to remain inoperative. Repeat start-up and testing operation at beginning of first cooling season.
D. Provide cooling season start-up, and winter season shut-down for first year of operation.
