PLUMBING EQUIPMENT
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.01 SECTION INCLUDES
A. Water Heaters.
1.02 REFERENCES
A. ANSI/NFPA 70 - National Electrical Code.
B. ANSI/UL 174 - Household Electric Storage Tank Water Heaters.
C. ANSI/NEMA 250 - Enclosure for Electrical Equipment (1000 Volts Maximum).
1.03 SUBMITTALS
A. Submit under provisions of Section 01300.
B. Product Data:
1. Include dimension drawings of water heaters indicating components and connections to other and piping.
2. Provide electrical characteristics and connection requirements.
C. Manufacturer's Installation Instructions.
1.04 OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE DATA
A. Submit under provisions of Section 01730.
1.05 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Perform Work in accordance with Metropolitan-Davidson County standard.
1.06 REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS
A. Conform to ASHRAE 90 Energy Efficiency Standards for water heaters.
1.07 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A. Deliver, store, protect and handle products to site under provisions of Section 01600.
B. Provide temporary inlet and outlet caps. Maintain caps in place until installation.
1.08 WARRANTY
A. Provide 1 year warranty under provisions of Section 01740.
B. Warranty: Include coverage of domestic water heaters.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.01 ELECTRIC WATER HEATER

B. Type: Automatic, electric, vertical storage.
C. Performance:
1. Storage: 30 gal. capacity.
2. Input: 2 kW.
3. Minimum recovery rate: 10 gph with 100 degrees F (38 degrees C) temperature rise.
4. Maximum working pressure: 150 psig (1000 kPa)
D. Electrical Characteristics:
1. 240 volts, single phase, 60 Hz minimum circuit ampacity.
2. 30 amperes maximum circuit breaker size over current protection.
E. Tank: Glass lined welded steel, thermally insulated with 2-inch (50 mm) thick glass fiber; encased in corrosion-resistant steel jacket; baked-on enamel finish.
F. Controls: Automatic water thermostat with externally adjustable temperature range from 120 to 170 degrees F (49 to 77 degrees C), flanged or screw-in nichrome elements, enclosed controls and electrical junction box and operating light.
G. Accessories: Brass water connections and dip tube, drain valve, high-density magnesium anode, and ASME temperature and pressure relief valve.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.01 WATER HEATER INSTALLATION
A. Install water heaters in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
B. Coordinate with plumbing piping and related electrical work to achieve operating system.
