    1.02 SUBMITTALS

    A. Submit product data for each type of valve.

    1.03 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING

    A. Take precautions to avoid damage to materials during delivery and storage.

    B. Store valves off the ground and away from materials that could contaminate potable water systems.

    C. Take precautions to keep joints and internal parts clean.

   PART 2 PRODUCTS

    2.01 MANUFACTURERS

    A. Plug Valves: DeZurik, Clow or equal.

    B. Check Valves

    1. Ball Check: Flygt or equal.

    2. Oil Cushioned Swing Check: Golden-Anderson, APCO, or equal.

    C. Air and Vacuum Valves: APCO or equal.

    D. Surge Relief Valves: APCO Series 3000 or equal.

    2.02 MATERIALS

All valves and associated piping shall be ductile iron.

    2.03 MANUFACTURED UNITS

    A. Eccentric Plug Valves

    1. Conformance: AWWA C504

Type: Electroless nickel plated cast iron

    Port Opening: 100%

    Direction of Opening: Open clockwise

    Operator: Underground with 2" Nut

Flanged valves: Faced and drilled to ANSI 125/150 lbs. standard.

    2. Non-lubricated eccentric type with resilient faced plugs of neoprene or hycar suitable for sewage and furnished with end connections shown on the Drawings.

    3. Valve bodies: ASTM A126 Class B cast iron with 1/8" welded overlay seat of not less than 90% pure nickel.

    4. Valve shaft seals:

    a. Multiple v-ring type, externally adjustable and repackable by removing the bonnet or actuator from the valve under pressure.

    b. O-ring seals or non-adjustable packing are not acceptable.

    5. Valve actuators:

    a. Gear actuators sized for the full shut-off pressure of the valve (175 psi).

    b. Stainless steel stems, exposed nuts, bolts, springs and washers.

    6. Valve stem: Extended to within 2' of finished grade on installations over 4' deep.

    B. Check Valves

    1. Ball check valve:

    a. Quality nodular cast iron type GGG 40.

    b. Hollow metal ball with an exterior coating of Nitrile rubber.

    2. Oil-cushioned swing check valve:

    a. Cast iron or stainless steel body and a stainless steel hinge shaft.

    b. Designed to open smoothly at pump start-up, allow full pipe line flow, cause minimum head loss and close at an adjustable predetermined rate to control surge and hammer.

    C. Air and Vacuum Valves

    1. Consist of two (2) independently acting valves bolted together (air and vacuum valve and air release valve). Stainless steel float, guided at the ends with stainless steel shafts and bushings. Buna-N seat to insure drop tight closure and fastened to the cover with stainless steel shoulder screws to prevent distortion of the seat. Threaded or flanged outlet connection on the valve cover.

    2. Combination type valve with a large and a small orifice for relieving small accumulations of air.

    3. The air release shall be side connected to the upper valve, but separated by a bronze shutoff valve for isolation purposes. The internal mechanism shall be the compound lever type to allow the valve to open under pressure to vent pockets of entrapped air as they accumulate. The compound mechanism activated by a stainless steel float to lift the Buna-N needle shuts off the air release orifice.

    D. Angle Surge Relief Valves

    1. Pneumatic spring cylinder type with spring loaded teflon seals and leak proof construction.

    2. Relief pressure shall be adjustable by changing the air pressure on the pneumatic cylinder.

    3. Valve bodies: Cast iron with renewable aluminum bronze seat rings.

    4. Valve seats: Renewable and resilient.

    5. Valve shall have a pressure gauge with a range four times the relief pressure setting, a soft seated check valve and a hand valve. Pressure setting shall be ten percent above the normal system line pressure.

   PART 3 EXECUTION

    3.01 INSTALLATION

Install valves as shown on the Drawings and in accordance with valve manufacturer's recommendations.
