SECTION 11354
CHEMICAL STORAGE AND FEED EQUIPMENT
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.01 SECTION INCLUDES
A. Chemical storage tank.
B. Diaphragm metering pumps for corrosive chemicals.
C. Process control unit.
1.02 RELATED SECTIONS
A. Section 15410 - Plumbing Piping.
1.03 QUALIFICATIONS
A. Manufacturer: Company specializing in manufacturing, assembling and field performance of diaphram metering pumps with minimum three (3) years experience.
1.04 SUBMITTALS
A. Submit under provisions of Section 01300.
B. Manufacturer's certification of compliance with these specifications.
C. Shop drawings indicating pertinent dimensions, materials of construction, connections to to other work, and other information needed to indicate compliance with these specifications.
D. Submit manufacturer's installation instructions under provisions of Section 01300.
E. Include installation instructions, assembly views, instructions, and replacement parts list.
1.05 OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE DATA
A. Submit operation and maintenance data under provisions of Section 01730.
B. Operation Data: Include description of system operation, adjusting and testing required.
C. Maintenance Data: Identify system maintenance requirements, servicing cycles, lubrication types required and spare part sources.
1.06 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING
A. Deliver, store, handle and protect projects under provisions of Section 01600.
B. Accept unit on site. Inspect for damages.
1.07 SERVICES OF MANUFACTURER
A. Furnish the services of a representative of the manufacturer of chemical to assist in adjusting and testing the furnished, to supervise initial operation and to make final adjustments as may be necessary to assure Owner that the is in satisfactory operating condition.
B. Furnish sufficient supervision, data, and information from the manufacturers for not less than one day on site to inform the Owner in the proper operation and maintenance of the furnished.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.01 GENERAL CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS
A. Locate the process control unit as close to the chemical storage tank as possible, locate both as close to location point as possible.
B. Suction and discharge lines shall have 90 degrees traverses between the fixed ends. Pipes shall be allowed to expand horizontally. Support vertically.
C. Manufacturers:
1. Davis Water & Waste Industries, Inc.
2. Substitutions: No like, equivalent, "or equal", or substitution in manufacturers will be allowed during the bidding phase of the project. Manufacturer substitutions will be considered after the Effective Date of the Agreement when submitted as a Value Change Proposal. Refer to Sections 00310, 00800 and 01600.
2.02 DIAPHRAGM METERING PUMPS FOR CORROSIVE CHEMICALS
A. Each of two (2) pumps shall be sized to deliver 0.03 gpm at 85 percent of maximum stroke length.
B. Pumps to be self-priming capable of suction lifts. Pumps to be bellows type with polypropylene bellows and viton inlet and outlet poppet valves.
2.03 CHEMICAL FEED CONTROLS
A. Provide process controller mounted on Type 316 stainless steel enclosure.
1. Activate and program by 96 position, 15 minute increment timer.
2. Front panel with 15 AMP/115 volt breaker, H.O.A. switches and ground fault receptacle.

B. Provide pump control box mounted on Type 316 stainless steel pedestal.
1. Pedestal to house: calibration tube, 3-way valve, light and heater with thermostat.
2. Pump control box to contain two pumps, fan and heater with thermostat.

2.04 CHEMICAL STORAGE TANK
A. Provide one double-walled 3000 gallon chemical storage tank constructed of high-density cross-linked, polyethylene and suitable for storage of a calcium nitrate formulation (CA(N03)2).
B. Tank shall be 10'-2" in diameter and 7'-8" tall and shall be UV stabilized without any additional painting requirements. Outer tank shall provide security of double containment.
C. Tank shall be provided with the following:
1. Overfill alarm to signal when tank becomes 90% filled.
2. One 24-inch diameter manway.
3. All nozzles and openings as shown on the Drawings.
4. One liquid level indicator - mechanical confirmation of chemical level.
5. Leak detection system with alarm to positively indicate an event.
D. Chemical storage tank system shall be IT-2 double-walled chemical storage system as manufactured by Davis Water & Waste Industries, Inc.
2.05 PIPING AND APPURTENANCES
A. Refer to Section 15410.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.01 INSTALLATION
A. Install pumps in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
B. Furnish and install the pumps, tank, piping and related accessories required for this project.
C. Layout and install all in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
D. Make all connections in accordance with manufacturer's installation drawings and instructions.
E. Connect all components to be leak free and without undue stress on connections.
