General Construction Specifications
PART 1 - GENERAL
01 SECTION INCLUDES
A. Flexible type flashing for concealed wall conditions.
1. Coordinate the work of this section with Section 04212 - Brick Masonry and Section 04222 - Concrete Unit Masonry.
02 SUBMITTALS
A. Submit the following in accordance with Section 01340.
B. Manufacturer's Product Data: Indicating full compliance with requirements of this section, including installation instructions.
03 DELIVERY, HANDLING, STORAGE
A. Products shall be delivered to job-site in original unopened packages bearing manufacturer's labels in accordance with Section 01610.
B. Store and protect products in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations and Section 01620.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
04 FLEXIBLE FLASHING
A. Type: AFCO "Cop-A-Bond" concealed flashing composed of sheet copper and one sheet of waterproof crepe kraft paper bonded together with asphalt, impervious to corrosion and unaffected by caustic chemicals such as alkalis found in concrete, as manufactured by AFCO Products Inc/Somerville, Mass.
1. Copper Weight: 3 oz. per sq. ft.
B. Substitutions: The following manufacturers are acceptable subject to requirements of this section. Other manufacturers may be submitted for review in accordance with Section 01630:
1. Phoenix Building Products Inc/Warminister, PA, "Duplex Cop-R-Flash."
2. York Manufacturing Inc/Sanford, ME, "Copper Fabric Flashing".
PART 3 - EXECUTION
05 INSTALLATION
A. General:
1. Verify that existing conditions are ready to receive flexible flashing work.
2. Surfaces to receive flashing shall be reasonably smooth and free from irregularities.
3. Beginning of flashing work means acceptance of existing conditions.
B. On horizontal surfaces, flashing shall be laid either in a fresh bed of mortar or a trowel coat of mastic.
C. Vertical surfaces shall be spotted with asphalt mastic to hold flashing in place.
1. Turn up flashing 8" minimum.
D. Exterior Corners:
1. Reinforce all corners of flexible flashing with mastic.
E. End Joints:
1. Lap end joints of flashing 6" and seal with mastic.
F. At End of Flashing:
1. Form pockets at end of flashing so that water is always directed to the outside through weep holes
