1.04 SUBMITTALS
A. Submit under provisions of Section 01300.
B. Product Data: Provide technical data on insulated sheathing, wood preservative materials, and application instructions.
C. Manufacturer's Certificate: Certify that Products meet or exceed specified requirements.
1.05 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Perform Work in accordance with the following agencies:
1. Lumber Grading Agency: Certified by ALSC.
2. Plywood Grading Agency: Certified by APA.
1.06 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A. Deliver, store, protect, and handle products to site under provisions of Section 01600.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.01 LUMBER MATERIALS
A. Lumber Grading Rules: NFPA, SPIB.
B. Rafter Framing: Stress Group A, Douglas Fir or Southern Pine species, No. 2 grade or better, 2-inches to 4-inches thick size classification, 19 percent maximum moisture content.
C. Non-structural Light Framing: Stress Group A, Douglas Fir or Southern Pine species, No. 2 grade or better, 2-inches to 4-inches thick size classification, 19 percent maximum moisture content.
D. Studding: Stress Group A, Douglas Fir or Southern Pine species, No. 2 grade or better, 2-inches to 4-inches thick size classification, 19 percent maximum moisture content.
2.02 SHEATHING MATERIALS
A. Plywood Roof Sheathing: APA Rated Sheathing Structural I Span Rating 48/24; Exterior Exposure Durability, unsanded.
B. Plywood Wall Sheathing: APA Rated Sheathing Structural I, Span Rating 16 oc; Exposure Durability -Exterior 1; unsanded.
2.03 SHEATHING AND UNDERLAYMENT LOCATIONS
A. Sloped Roof Sheathing: 3/4 inch thick, 48 x 96 sized sheets, square, preservative treated.
2.04 ACCESSORIES
A. Fasteners and Anchors:
1. Fasteners: Hot-dipped galvanized steel for high humidity and treated wood locations.
B. Die Stamped Connectors: Hot dipped galvanized steel.
C. Joist Hangers: Hot dipped galvanized steel, sized to suit framing conditions, manufactured by Simpson Strong Tie Company, Inc., or approved equal.
D. Building Paper: No. 15 asphalt felt.
2.05 FACTORY WOOD TREATMENT
A. Wood Preservative Pressure Treatment: AWPA Treatment C1 and C9 using water borne preservative with 0.25 percent retainage.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.01 FRAMING
A. Set structural members level and plumb, in correct position.
B. Make provisions for erection loads, and for sufficient temporary bracing to maintain structure safe, plumb, and in true alignment until completion of erection and installation of permanent bracing.
C. Do not cut, notch, or bore framing members for passage of pipes or conduits.
D. Place horizontal members flat, crown side up.
E. Construct double joist headers at floor and ceiling openings and under wall stud partitions that are parallel to floor joists. Frame rigidly into joists.
F. Bridge in excess of 8 feet span.
G. Where wood framing is attached to masonry, anchor at 24-inches (600 mm) on center, maximum, unless otherwise noted.
H. Coordinate installation of wood sheathing, and prefabricated wood trusses.
I. Coordinate curb installation with installation of decking and support of deck openings, roofing vapor retardant, and any obstructions.
3.02 SHEATHING
A. Secure roof sheathing perpendicular to framing members with ends staggered and sheet ends over firm bearing. Provide solid edge blocking between sheets.
B. Secure wall sheathing with long dimension perpendicular to wall studs, with ends over firm bearing and staggered.
3.03 TOLERANCES
A. Framing Members: 1/4 inch from true position, maximum.
