    SECTION 01526

    TEMPORARY ENCLOSURES

   PART 1 GENERAL

   

    1.01 RELATED DOCUMENTS:

    All systems utilized should at a minimum minimize personnel and environmental exposure to hazardous airborne materials beyond the work area in accordance with Sections 01016, 01410, 01513 and applicable Federal, State, and local regulations including but not limited to Steel Structures Painting Guide 61(Con), Code of Federal Regulations 29-CFR-1926, 20-CFR-1910.1025, 40-CFR-Part 50, Appendix G, OSHA Publication 3126, Industrial Ventilation Manual of Recommended Practices, 20th Edition, and ANSI/ASC Z9.4-189.

   PART 2. PRODUCTS

   PART 3. EXECUTION

    3.01 TEMPORARY ENCLOSURES:

    A. Interior Enclosure:

    1. The interior work area access shall be contained from the outside environment by the use of a minimum six-mil thick, fire retardant polyethylene sheeting or other suitable material approved by the Engineer fro use to prevent the dispersal of airborne dust to the environment.

    2. Contain removal operations by the use of a negative pressure full containment system with HEPA filtered exhaust as specified in Section 01513 - Temporary Pressure Differential and Air Circulation Systems.

    B. Exterior Enclosure:

    1. Work requiring exterior containment shall designed, built, operated and confirmed to comply with SSPC, Class 1 Containment requirements.

    2. Containment shall be as follows:

    (a) Containment Materials: Type A2

    (b) Air Perebility of Containment Materials: Type B1

    (c) Support Structure: Type C1 or Type C2

    (d) Containment Material Joint Treatment: Type D1

    (e) Entryways: Type E1 or E2

    (f) Air Make-up Points: Type F1

    3. Ventilation shall be as follows:

    (a) Input Air Flow: Type G1 or G2

    (b) Air Pressure Inside Containment: Type H2

    (c) Air Movement Inside Containment: Type I1

    (d) Exit Air Flow/Dust Collection: Type J1

    4. Method of Testing Quality of Containment shall be as follows:

    (a) Method D - Ambient Air Monitoring for Hazardous Elements

   

    (I) Metod A - Visual Monitoring shall be used until first reports from Metod D have been received. Emission levels shall not exceed Level 3.

   

    (b) Method E - Soil Analysis for Hazardous Materials shall be used upon completion of all work to verify requirements.
